Pain Management Post Op Instructions

PAIN MANAGEMENT - HOMECARE INSTRUCTIONS

How to effectively handle your pain post-oral surgery, using the Pain Pack Protocol. This protocol maximizes non-opioid medication at prescription doses and allows for prescription pain meds to be an option rather than an obligation.

CARE FOR THE FIRST 24 HOURS AFTER SURGERY

  • The best way to manage your pain without using prescription pain medication is to take Extra Strength Tylenol AND Ibuprofen every 6 hours.
  • Make sure you wait 2 hours between doses of Extra Strength Tylenol (or Rx) and Ibuprofen.
  • If you are prescribed pain medication by the doctor, it should be used ONLY when pain is not relieved by Tylenol.
  • Prescription pain medication contains Tylenol and can be used in place of Extra Strength Tylenol, NOT in addition to an Extra Strength Tylenol dose.

WARNING!

Prescription pain medication has potential risk of ADDICTION!

To minimize side effects, all medication should be taken with food.
