Temporary Veneers Post Op Instructions

TEMPORARY VENEERS - HOMECARE INSTRUCTIONS

We’ve placed your temporary veneers - Now what?

CHEWING & EATING

  • Avoid chewing anything until the anesthetic has worn off.
  • Avoid foods that are hard, crunchy or sticky such as gum, candy and nuts. These types of foods increase the chance of chipping or breaking your temporaries.
  • Refrain from using tobacco when possible.

BRUSHING & FLOSSING

  • Brush very lightly on the teeth that temporaries were attached, this helps the gum tissue to heal and stay healthy.
  • If your temporaries are individual, floss your teeth by inserting your floss between the veneers and then pulling the floss through. DO NOT pull the floss straight down like you normally would. Floss the permanent teeth as usual.

MEDICATION & DISCOMFORT

  • The prepped teeth may be sensitive to temperature. You may want to use sensitive toothpaste like Sensodyne to help ease the discomfort.
  • To control discomfort, take pain medication before the anesthetic is worn off.
  • We recommend: three Advil and 1 Tylenol every six hours until discomfort tapers off.
